NAUTICAL FINISHES
For his Nantucket house's master bath, designer Gary McBournie chose Waterworks hardware at unlacquered brass, so that it might tarnish and age. His goal was to tie back all the details to the house's feeling.
MODERN ZEN
"The threat of doing a modern bathroom is that it may feel cold," says Pamela Butz, that remodeled this house near Boston with partner Jeffrey Klug. Their solution was a layout that errs on the side of simplicity, but with beautiful, natural materials that "speak for themselves."

In an Atlanta family residence, the downstairs bathroom has a utilitarian Oak Hill DXV console spout, which designer Matthew Quinn notes is both elegant and durable. The shower and bathroom are hidden from the Portico collection of Sunbrella fabrics of Thibaut. Suspending a mirror in the front of the window allows for solitude.
REPURPOSED WALLPAPER
Framed fragments of Gracie's Georgian Tea Trade wallpaper have the impact of landscape paintings in a South Carolina house's powder room. The vanity is a converted console.
